The official website of 86 Eighty-Six anime has announced that the anime will return after a short delay. The announcement explained that the makers of the series are delaying the production to ensure the quality of the anime. On February 12, 2022, the production team announced the release date for the next episodes. It confirmed that the anime would return for fans to watch from March 2022. The series was experiencing production problems due to the global pandemic and certain unknown reasons. As a result, there was a delay in airing episodes 18 and 19. However, the continuous delay in the episodes made matters for its scheduling. This caused the series to postpone its coming episodes.

The last episode in the 86 Eighty-Six series was titled ‘All That’s Left’. It ended on a huge cliffhanger, causing fans to wonder if Frederica and Shin are still alive. After Shin successfully defeats Kiriya and the morpho, Frederica gets an emotional vision of Shin, Shourei, and Kiriya. The vision shows Shourei smiling at Kiriya as he orders Shin to care for the young princess. After he finishes, he follows Shourei into a bright room, which can be interpreted as the afterlife. However, neither Frederica nor Shin notices the self-destruction prompt on the morpho. The episode ends with Frederica gasping in shock as the morpho explodes.
The next episodes will show if Shin and Frederica will survive the blast. Shin, who is closest to the morpho, is more in danger than Frederica. However, based on her vision, it is clear that Shin might not die. So, Kiriya might try to save them both in his final moments as repentance for his past.
