Since the first announcement of the Cowboy Bebop Live-Action series in June 2017, fans have been desperately waiting for the show’s arrival. Almost four years have gone by, and the project is finally taking shape. This is easily one of the most anticipated live-action adaptations of the coming months. In 2019 when Netflix acquired the licensing rights of the show, it was clear that the project will see the light of the day very soon. So, when is the show releasing? The Cowboy Bebop Live-Action is an ambitious project that has been in production since 2017. The ten-episode series will the vision of writer André Nemec. Recently, Netflix and Tomorrow Studio came out with the release date of the new show. Moreover, the first look of the characters is also out. The official website of Netflix describes the live-action to follow the same story as the original Cowboy Bebop anime. The first season will dedicate the initial few episodes to introducing the characters of Spike Spiegel, Jet Black, Faye Valentine, and Radical Ed. So, the story follows these criminals as the Government of Japan recruits them for a mission. The four were offered freedom in return for a life-threatening task. Hence, their mission includes traveling through space and defending the planet from incoming alien invasions.

The original anime had twenty-six episodes in the pilot season. For now, the makers have confirmed that the Cowboy Bebop Live-Action version will have ten episodes in the debut season. Each episode will be an hour-long edition. Moreover, writer and executive producer Jeff Pinkner also teased that they are planning a second season for the coming years. Thus, fans can expect to hear about the new season by the end of this one.

Cast & Crew Updates

Netflix has revealed the names of all the cast members of the show along with their new look in the show. John Cho is playing the part of Spike in the live-action. Mustafa Shakir will be playing Jet. Daniella Pineda is cast as Faye, along with Alex Hassell as Vicious. Moreover, Elena Satine will be playing Julia. Geoff Stults and Tamara Tunie are playing the parts of Chalmers and Ana. Other cast members of Cowboy Bebop Live-Action series include Mason Alexander Park as Gren, Rachel House as Mao, Ann Truong as Shin, and Hoa Xuande as Lin.

As for the staff members, André Nemec and Jeff Pinkner are credited as the original creators of the show. Thor Ragnarok fame writer Christopher Yost is on board to write the series. Moreover, a plethora of directors will direct separate episodes for the series. Lastly, Yoko Kanno is responsible for the music composition of the live-action series. This able team is working at Tomorrow Studio to make an incredible series.

Cowboy Bebop Live-Action: Release Date

The official social media handles of Netflix and anime Cowboy Bebop announced the solid release date of the live-action adaptation. So, according to the statement, Cowboy Bebop Live-Action will release on November 19, 2021. The first season will release only on Netflix for now. A western release date is yet to be announced by the makers.
