Studio Ghibli which is quite famous for its top-notched anime is all geared up to bring more entertainment in the life of anime fans. Another masterpiece from Ghibli’s Studio is on its way. Earwig And The Witch is the upcoming 3DCG anime film in Japan. It is also known as Āya to Majo, “Aya and the Witch in Hepburn.

Release Date In Japan

The movie is scheduled to release in late 2020 on NHK which is the National broadcasting network of Japan. Several other anime such as Taiga drama and Okaasan to Issho have a show especially designed for children had remained a part of NHK.

Earwig And The Witch In US

Now, after Japan, the Ghibli’s studio is making its way to endorse Earwig And The Witch outside the homeland. The studio is planning to release its upcoming anime in the USA. For this purpose, the studio collaborated with US streaming network GKIDS.

Official Announcement

The statement came from GKIDS, through its official twitter account on Tuesday, July 7, 2020. As per the announcement from the US network, it has secured the rights to telecast Earwig And The Witch in North America. However, the series is scheduled to release in 2021 for Ghibli’s fans residing in the United States.

Creators

Earwig And The Witch is the adaption of a children book from Diana Wynne Jones, a British Writer. The anime is from the director of Tales from Earthsea and Up on Poppy Hill, Gorō Miyazaki. The upcoming anime’s premiere was scheduled in the 2020 Cannes Film Festival. But, unfortunately it cancelled due to the ongoing pandemic.

Synopsis

According to the official synopsis from the website of Earwig And The Witch, the anime is centered around the life of an orphan girl, the earwig. Later in the synopsis, it is mentioned that she will be adopted by a family where she has to live with a witch.
