It was later adapted into an anime by Polygon in 2014, which ran for two seasons till 2015. Now, for the final part, the makers have decided to produce a feature film in the series. Knights of Sidonia Movie: Plot Synopsis
The official synopsis suggests that Knights of Sidonia is about an everlasting fight of the human race for survival. While most of humanity is almost dead, a few warriors remain who must destroy the Gaunas who took over their home planet. Sidonia is their last surviving ship, which is why the group calls themselves Knights of Sidonia. The plot also follows a brutal war between the Knights and the Gaunas, which is nothing short of a treat to watch.
Moreover, Nagate is the protagonist who is in charge of flying a frontline spaceship. The new film will explore more emotional arcs than battle scenes. The past story of Nagate will also take place. Also, we can expect to see the past lives of the Knights before the destruction of their homes.
Cast And Crew
The cast of the Knights of Sidonia movie will see Ryōta Ōsaka as the protagonist Nagate Tanikaze. Next, Aya Suzaki will be playing the role of Shizuka Hoshijiro along with Aki Toyasaki as Izana Shinatose. Moreover, Takahiro Sakurai will be playing Norio Kunato. Hisako Kanemoto is cast for the role of Yuhata Midorikawa. Rie Kitamura and Ayane Sakura are playing Mozuku Kunato and the Honoka sisters. Other cast members include Sayaka Oohara as Kobayashi and Takehito Koyasu as Ochiai. Satomi Arai will be playing Lala Hiyama. Lastly, Atsuko Tanaka and Tomohiro Tsuboi will be playing Samari Ittan and Ichirō Seī.
Polygon Pictures has brought together a team of incredible talents for the final project. For a start, Tadahiro “Tady” Yoshihirata will be directing the film. Hiroyuki Seshita is the chief director. And Sadayuki Murai and Tetsuya Yamada are scriptwriters. Next, Masayuki Uemoto will be the CG supervisor. Akihito Nagazono is the animation director, and Mitsuo Yoshino is the art director. Finally, we will see Shūji Katayama as the music composer.
Knights of Sidonia Movie: Director’s Plan
Tadahiro “Tady” Yoshihira, who will be the director of the film, describes the new project as an ‘ensemble story.’ He says that many emotional acts will take place in the film that will end in an epic finale. Moreover, he also talks about the three arcs of the film that are ‘the love story, the cursed past and the final battle.’ He hopes to add all three parts to the film. Besides, Yoshihira also shares his excitement for the last film as he wants to give this epic story a satisfying end. Knights of Sidonia Movie: Release Date
Knights of Sidonia: The Star That Weaves Love was earlier slated to release in Japan on May 14, 2021. However, the health crisis led to a delay in the process. Thus, the film will now be opening in Japan on June 4, 2021. Moreover, the live stage event is also not happening this time.
