Manga Creator Kazuyoshi Torii Passes Away! All About The Veteran Legend

A piece of very saddening news has come out depicting the death of the famous cartoonist, Kazuyoshi Torii. Torii left us at the age of 75 at the Nagoya Hospital. In his last days, Manga creator Kazuyoshi Torii was battling pancreatic cancer. After his heartfelt demise, his family organized a private funeral acknowledging the late mangaka. His famous works include the likes of many fans and have achieved heights in the manga industry.

Kazuyoshi Torii has worked on several projects. These famous works include Dr. Toilet, Matankey, which is a spin-off of the former, and many more. The creator has had his names in a list of projects and mainly circles around gag mangas. His most famous work, Toilet Hakase, was targeted due to it being controversial and having many vulgar comments. However, the sales of the manga did not falter, resulting in 10 million copies in total.

Kazuyoshi Torii: Early Life & Career

The late mangaka was born on November 12, 1946 in Nukata, Aichi Preferture. Kazuyoshi Torii desired to be a filmmaker but later changed his goals and made a career in animation. He found work at Nippon TV Douga and soon found himself as an assistant of Akatsuka. Working under the gag legend, Torii worked on something quite similar and created his famous work, Dr. Toilet. The series was inspired during his days at Fujio Akatsukan and contained many fecal jokes.

The creator was often tagged as “dirty face,” just like his works, due to his excessive beard, which he refused to shave. Apparently, Torii has also suffered from depression. He has labored for various works from 1969 until his unfortunate passing away. Some of the names are Gokudo Sensei, Dorapapa, Hot American, and many more.

Dr. Toilet And Other Works

Kazuyoshi Torii’s work, Dr. Toilet, came out in 1969. The copy had a fecal doctor in focus. However, it soon changed the gears and planted different protagonists as it progressed. The series has had 30 volumes and was a huge hit of Weekly Shonen Jump in the 1970s. However, the work has had many negative reviews. But, it cannot be denied that Dr. Toilet being the talk of the town due to its gross jokes, collected a huge audience. Hence, the huge number of sales.

The work was soon joined by a spin-off called Matankey. It was published under Weekly Playboy magazine. Next came out Sunami-chan of 1-chome. It was a sequel led under Weekly Young Jump. The manga series began publishing in 1979 but soon came to a halt. All in all, the mangaka has been recognized worldwide due to his many works. While Kazuyoshi Torii died on February 9, his works will forever keep him alive.
