Both characters share feelings for each other not just as superheroes but also as fellow classmates. This makes it harder for them to admit their feelings. The act also makes them feel they are betraying their friends and partners. It is clear that the two are not aware of their true identities, and Hawk Moth has worsened the situation for them.
The villain confirms that if the duo reveals themselves, one of them will get “akutamized,” i.e., negative emotions will overpower their senses. This won’t end up too well for the superheroes, and Hawk Moth might receive a win. On the brighter side, creators did confirm on Twitter that the characters will reveal their identities eventually. However, the exact timeline has not been revealed just yet.
What About Their Relationships With Luka And Kagami?
Adrien is more ‘locked up’ towards Marinette. Hence, it is understandable that she has a better bond with her friend. Thus, she shares a smoother relationship with Luka. She finds it easier to tell things to him as he comes across as more approachable. The first two seasons did focus on Adrien and Marinette forming a friendship while being in love with each other as superheroes.
But the addition of Luka and Kagami has thrown fans off and confused them for the future of their favorites. Adrien is a very dense person, and after getting rejected by Ladybug, his feelings have not yet died down. He asks Kagami for advice, to which she recommends him to change his ‘target.’ Adrien then proceeds to advance on Kagami with the rose which was meant for Ladybug.
