The official website of the anime series released a new promotional video for the second half of the season. Fans had been waiting for the series for almost a decade, and finally, the series premiered in January 2022. And the first half wrapped up this February. Aya Kanno wrote and illustrated the historical fiction manga series Requiem of the Rose King in 2013. Akita Shoten’s Monthly Princess magazine ran this story till January 2022. There are 16 bound volumes of the series. In 2020, J.C. Staff announced an anime based on the series. However, due to production delays, the anime premiered in January 2022, with the first half has not ended yet. There are eight episodes out and the next one is scheduled for March 9. The official website of the Requiem of the Rose King anime series released a new promotional video for the second half of the season. The 87-second video shows a glimpse of what fans can expect in the second half of the anime and introduces the new characters and cast. The video has Makoto Furukawa’s song, “Bara Rinbukyoku”. He previously sang the opening theme for the first half of the season.
Hikaru Midorikawa will be joining the cast as a new member voicing Sir James Tyrell about the new cast. Yuko Kaida has begged the role for Jane Shore. Also, Akra Ishida will be coming to play the Duke of Richmond. And Haruki Ishiya will be there as Anthony Woodville. There is also Atsushi Tamaru joining as Thomas Grey. Lastly, Shunichi Toki will be in the role of Sir Richard Grey. Fans are excited about the new characters and the story.
Plot Details
Requiem of the Rose King is a historical fiction story loosely set in England where the House of York and the House of Lancaster are fighting for the throne. However, the main character is Richard III, an intersex son of the Duke of York. The first half ended with episode eight, “Even alone, it wasn’t frightening. Rather…the loneliness has been kind ever since.”
Since the anime series is pretty much following the manga series, the events will pick up after Richard and Henry go into the fairy-tale forest. While Richard’s questions about his identity as neither a man nor a woman are not resolved yet, Henry’s remarks about his purity do give him peace. The next episode is titled, “I remember when Christmas was approaching. The time when I lost Father.” After the second half begins, fans will get to see the new characters. New conspiracies will brew and Edward won’t be king for long.
Requiem Of The Rose King: Release Details
The second half will premiere in April 2022. Tokyo MX, KBS Kyoto, and Sun TV will air the anime from April 10, 2022. BS11 will premiere the series on April 12, 2022. The anime will air for two consecutive cours. Fans can also find the anime series on Funimation and the English Dubbed version.
