The anime studio Madhouse and the director of One-Punch Man are finally joining hands for a new anime venture called Sonny Boy. These credible names are enough to know that the upcoming show will be a massive hit in terms of content.
The all-new series called Sonny Boy will be a direct adaptation of an original manga of the same name. The show will be a science fiction anime series which will be the creation of director Shingo Natsume. Sonny Boy: Renewal & Plot
Sonny Boy is a sci-fi survival anime that will be premiering this year itself. Only a little is known about the show besides its name and the specific genre. Not much information was revealed about the plot and characters of the show. We do know that the show will follow the original series of the manga. However, it’s hard to say to what extent the pilots might be changed. Although, the makers did release a concept visual and a promotional video which reveals a first look at the new series.
The story of Sonny Boy revolves around a middle schooler named Nagara and his classmates Nozomi and Mizuho. As their summer vacation approached, the three suddenly get transported to an alternate dimension along with their thirty-three classmates. This is a special dimension as all the students acquire superpowers of some sort. Hence, they must now learn to control these powers and survive in this new world.
Sonny Boy: Cast And Crew
Director Shingo Natsume will be joined by a bunch of talented crew members to create this anime. Whereas, for the animation of this series, Kugai Norifumi has taken the command. Moreover, the original manga artist Hisashi Eguchi will also be joining the animation team. Eguchi is famous for his contributions to the character design of the critically-acclaimed anime film Perfect Blue.
Mari Fujino, famously known for his works in Dororo, will join the show as its art director. Moreover, Akane Fushihara will also be there in the role of director of photography. He is famous for his contributions to Cardcaptor Sakura: Clear Card and One-Punch Man. On the other hand, the sound director of Vinland Saga, Great Pretender, Fairy Tail will also join the team for this one.
Release Date
For now, a solid release date has not been announced by the makers yet. However, we do know that the show will be releasing this year itself. Considering the fact that the making process is still undergoing, we can speculate that Sonny Boy might roll out by the end of this year, somewhere near Christmas.
