Space Battleship Yamato 2205 is a two-part film venture by Satelight Studios that is all set to break records in the coming months. The eighth reboot of the Space Battleship film franchise is the follow-up movie of the Star Blazers: Space Battleship Yamato 2202. Surprisingly, 2202 is also a remake of a remake to the 1979 film Space Battleship Yamato: The New Voyage.
The original creators of this world are Yoshinobu Nishizaki and Leiji Matsumoto. Now, 2021 will see another film that will be an addition to this space franchise. Space Battleship Yamato 2205: Plot Details & Teaser
The formal synopsis by the makers describes the world of Space Battleship Yamato 2205 to be set in an intergalactic society. We get to see the fate of Iscandar after three years when Yamato returns. Earth is finally safe from other galaxies after the signing of the peace treaty with Garmillas. However, the people of earth must be prepared for any incoming attacks. Thus, they invent advanced technologies.
Here, the goddess Teresa wants this peace gone as soon as possible. So, she hands over this task to Yamato to destroy the order. The plot of the new film will focus on an intense battle between the Warriors of Earth and Yamato for the survival of its race once again. Both the movies will follow a common story that will follow different events.
Who Will Be In The Cast?
It is believed that many actors will be reprising their roles from the classic franchise. For a start, Daisuke Ono will be playing the role of Susumu Kodai as usual. Hōko Kuwashima will be playing Yuki Mori. We can expect to see Hōchū Ōtsuka as Shirō Sanada. Moreover, Kōichi Yamadera will be playing Abelt Dessler in the upcoming film Space Battleship Yamato 2205. Kikuko Inoue and Nobuhiko Okamoto are lending their voices to the characters of Starsha Iscandar and Tasuke Tokugawa, respectively.
On the other hand, a new list of cast members was also out recently. This includes Tasuku Hatanaka as Ryūsuke Domon and Kento Itō as Shigeru Sakamoto. Lastly, we can expect to see Tomo Muranaka as Miyako Kyōzuka, and Wataru Hatano as Heiji Bandō, as well.
Space Battleship Yamato 2205: Release Date
The first part of the anime film Space Battleship Yamato 2205 will premiere in Japanese theatres on October 8, 2021. The makers reveal that the film will launch in 36 cinema halls across Japan, whereas a US premiere date is yet to come out. On the other hand, Part 2 of the film also does not have a release date. The sequel will likely hit the theatres sometime during the next summer.
