World Trigger Season 3: 2021 Release Date Confirmed! Plot Details & Cast

World Trigger Season 3

Toei Animation

The first season of World Trigger came out in 2014 and became a huge hit. After a long wait of seven years, the anime series returned for a sequel earlier this year. Now, fans have high hopes for World Trigger Season 3 and have been waiting for Toei Animation to wave the green flag again. The demand for another season is constantly increasing. So, has the studio renewed it yet? When will it be back on the screens? Here’s all you need to know.

World Trigger anime is based on a manga series of the same name by Daisuke Ashihara. The manga first came out in February 2013 and has become pretty popular over the years. Hence, Toei Animation took up the anime adaptation project in 2014. The first season was a three-cour anime with seventy-three episodes. The twelve-episode second season just wrapped up this April leaving behind many questions for the fans.

World Trigger Season 3: Renewal Updates

The inaugural season of World Trigger was a three-cour anime. The second edition was also planned to be a three-part series. But when the manga went on an uncalled hiatus in February 2021, the remaining cours of the sequel were called off. This also left the third season in the position of cancellation. However, fortunately, the Jump Festa ’20 event by Toei Animation has announced the renewal of the third season. Moreover, the World Trigger Vol. 1 event took place this Sunday to confirm more details about the upcoming season of the anime.

Production Delayed Due To Author’s Poor Health!

The second season of World Trigger was originally planned to be split-cour anime. But due to the poor health conditions of mangaka Daisuke Ashihara, the sequel was discontinued after the first cour. According to Monstersandcritics, the author is still suffering from cervical dysfunctions. Thus, the remaining cours of the second season are shifted to World Trigger Season 3. For now, the production of the third edition is in the last stages. Most of the animation work is almost complete, and it is only a matter of time before the anime hits the screens.

Cast Updates!

The live stream event for World Trigger Season 3 also announced the cast that will be working on the new project. Tomo Muranaka is playing the part of Yuma Kuga. Yuuki Kaji will be playing the character of Osamu Mikumo. Moreover, Nao Tamura and Yuichi Nakamura will be voicing Chika Amator and Yuichi Jin. Lastly, the character of Nobunaga Shimazaki will be played by Hyuse. Furthermore, filmmaker Morio Hatano will be directing the third edition as well. The rest of the staff member names are yet to be out.

World Trigger Season 3: Plot Details

The first season of World Trigger tells the story of Yuma Kuga, a disguised transfer student who moves to Mikado City. The catch is that Yuma is a humanoid robot who is on the run is escaping the Border, a soldier training organization. Here, he meets Osamu Mikumo, who is another Border trainee on the run. But a series of events take them back to where it all started. The second season of World Trigger left the story in the middle of an enduring arc. Since the story was to be divided into three cours, it is highly likely that World Trigger Season 3 will continue the events of B-Rank Battles Arc at the Border.

Thus, the premise will adapt the story of the manga from Chapters 86 through 199. At the Border, Yuma will continue to bond and interact with Tamakoma Second. Moreover, Yuma, Osamu, and his team will continue to compete in the matches to earn points in order to become the strongest B-Rank Team. The third season is likely to dive into the real battle and competitions of the arena. Here is the latest teaser trailer that gives a glimpse of the new season.
