The Devil May Cry Anime

Capcom

The world knows the Devil May Cry only as the 2007 popular animated series. The story of demon hunter Dante dominated the late 2000s with a high tide. Produced by Madhouse, the single-season series was considered one of a kind story. It is based on the original game by Capcom. Very recently, the company joined hands with a team of able showrunners to produce an anime version. Thus, here is everything that has been revealed about Devil May Cry Anime.

The Devil May Cry anime is now being produced by Resident Evil fame filmmaker Adi Shankar. The story of the series is essentially set between the pilot and the second game. However, the makers have other plans for the spin-off anime. Shankar has revealed that he wants to create a web of arcs spread over multiple seasons. Here is everything you need to know about the new venture.

Devil May Cry: Maker Teases Multiple Seasons

Devil May Cry Anime producer Adi Shankar has remained quite vocal about the release of the spin-off anime series. This week, he announced that he announced that the scripts of the pilot anime are complete. In the same trial, the showrunner talked to the entertainment portal IGN. In the interview, Adi revealed that much like his other popular works, Devil May Cry Anime would also take “multiple seasons” to tell one story.

He quoted his works like Castlevania, which took almost four seasons to complete one storyline. However, Shankar did not confirm as to how many seasons the series would stretch. Looking at the history of his popular works like Resident Evil and Monster Hunt, this one might also last a good three to four seasons.

Production Status!

As per the statements by the showrunner, Adi Shankar, the Devil May Cry Anime series is currently in the early stages of production. Only the scripting work of the anime has been completed so far. Looking at the time of the announcement, the scripting has finished earlier than expecting. Moreover, Shankar was pointing towards the entire script of the series, so the show is up for a long-term animation.

It was also announced at the time of the initial announcement that the series would begin animation work in early 2022. Other than the animation, no other production detail was mentioned by the producer. Casting updates and other details will come by as the release date comes closer.
