EVO Online 2020 Has Been Cancelled Due To Allegations Against Co-Founder

The most awaited gaming tournament of the year was just around the corner when it received official cancellation from its authorities.

Yes, this is a news which can upset your mood, but the Evolution Championship Series 2020 is finally cancelled after an allegation on its CEO.

The event which was previously supposed to happen from July 31 to August 2 of this year in Las Vegas at Mandalay Bay Hotel and Resort. Later postponed to July 4 as an online event which had to continue till August 2 is finally cancelled. 

The official twitter account of EVO also announced the cancellation of their anime gaming tournament. According to the tweet, the new CEO is Tonny Cannon and Juey Cuellar is no longer a CEO of EVO.

Further, in the statement, EVO cleared that the company will refund the amount to its participants and it will still donate in the project HOPE as promised.

According to the source, the two big franchises of the gaming world have pulled their hands off from this event. Those gaming companies are Capcom’s “Street Fighter” and NetherRealm’s “Mortal Kombat. Without such sponsors, the tournament seems impossible. The Capcom fighter also tweets about the current situation while announcing the separation from EVO 2020. Later in the statement, the Capcom apologize to the players who were looking forward to the fighting tournament.

EVO 2020 was the most anticipated anime gaming tournament of the year and anime fans were truly excited about it. The recent news about the cancellation of the event is no doubt a difficult thing for anime game lovers to digest, but according to the context of current scenario which is the withdrawal of support from different franchises and gaming partners. It must be difficult for the Evolution Championship Series 2020 to happen with same enthusiasm like every year.
