The franchise Godzilla is quite famous because of its iconic character of the same name i.e. Godzilla. The character marked its debut in 1956 on The Criterion Collection. Since that time the anime personality, Godzilla has been featured in various action anime not only in Japan but also in the United States. The fame that this character has received is unmatchable to any other non-human anime one. In this article, we are going to discuss the success that Godzilla has received till this date (though only one article isn’t enough to describe) and the near future of the franchise.

Showa Era

In the starting era which was from 1954 to 1975, the franchise astonishingly delivered up to 15 movies of Godzilla. Delivering 15 anime film in a slot of 20 years was truly an astonishing step from the franchise. The anime released in that era were King Kong Vs. Godzilla, Son Of Godzilla, Terror of Mecha Godzilla and several other anime.

Heisei Era

Heisei Era continued from 1976 to 1984. This era mostly consists of the collaborated anime of Godzilla with other monstrous creatures. The films released during that period were Godzilla Vs. Biollante, Godzilla vs. Mechagodzilla II, Godzilla vs. Space Godzilla and many other.

Millennium Era 

It is a little advance time in the history of Godzilla or you could say the time period when the character received much hype. In this era, the franchise filled the anime industry with astounding Godzilla’s anime. Some of them include Godzilla 2000: Millenium, Godzilla Against Mechagodzilla, Godzilla: Final Wars and you know what most of the anime of this era are from Sony Entertainment Company.

Reiwa Era

Here comes the most anticipated era in the history of the Godzilla franchise. In this slot, the Godzilla made its way to the USA through Netflix and Funimation. It includes all the anime that released from 2016 till this date namely Shin Godzilla, Godzilla: The Planet Of Monsters, Godzilla: City On The Edge Of Battle and Godzilla The Planet Eater.

Future Projects

A few days back Kaiju News Outlet tweeted the synopsis of their upcoming anime film and its release date. According to the tweet, the film named as Godzilla vs. Kong will be released on May 21, 2021. 

Although the release day is quite far away but, thanks to Ghibli’s Studio for the stuff it has provided, this stuff would be enough to help Ghibli’s fans passing their time until the release of Godzilla vs. Kong.
