Detective anime fans, bring out your glasses; Moriarty The Patriot is returning! Although it has just been a year since the anime series ended, the producers are releasing a two-episode OVA. Moriarty The Patriot series became a hit because of its shocking new take on Sherlock Holmes and bold storyline. Fans were eager to see more content on the series but they were not expecting this good news. So here is everything there is to know about Moriarty The Patriot OVA.
Ryosuke Takeuchi wrote the manga series, and Hikaru Miyoshi illustrated it in 2016. This ongoing manga series is based on the works of Sir Arthur Conan Doyle. As of now, the manga chapters are compiled into 15 volumes. Later, Production I. G. adapted the series into a television anime series in 2020. It aired from October 2020 to June 2021 for 24 episodes straight. Moreover, Funimation streamed the anime series. Lastly, a recent announcement said that there would be a two-episode Original Video Animation as well.

The official website for Moriarty, The Patriot’s anime, announced that there would be a two-episode Original Video Animation for the series. The announcement has also revealed the guest cast for the same. Kenji Hamada will be voicing Baron George Cubid. The Baron is a painter with a lily motif. Hirofumi Nojima and Atsumi Tanezaki are also going to join the cast as guest members. The case will include two exclusive mini character illustration sheets. Tooru Ookubo has also illustrated an eight-page booklet in a sleeve case for this shipment.
Plot Details!
The series follows the story of James Moriarty from a younger age. People know this man across the world as the enemy of Sherlock Holmes. However, this version throws light on how he became that way. As a boy, the main character witnesses England’s class struggles and hierarchy. He realizes that rich people are making use of the poor people. Moreover, the only way to end this would be to destroy these structures from the inside. Somehow the line to crime starts to blur. The story follows the boy as he grows up in posh London.
The OVAs are going to have two episodes. The first episode is called “Recollection of Lily”. This will be an original story that was not there in the manga. Fans believe that this episode will primarily involve the Baron and his paintings. The second episode is called “Moriarty Family Holiday”. This episode adapts the chapter from the manga series of the same name. Fans will get to see the entire family together. And they are very excited about this episode.

Moriarty The Patriot Anime Returns: Release Details
The Blu-Ray disc and DVD of the Moriarty, The Patriot’s OVA, will be ready to ship by April 27, 2022. Additionally, there will be an advance screening event on 5 March 2022 at the Nakano Sun Plaza for the first episode. However, it is unclear if these episodes are DVD only. Fans are hoping that Funimation will stream it. But there is no news about that yet. So keep an eye on this space for more details as they come.
