The main character, Miyo Saimori, is a talentless Japanese girl from the 1800s whose cruel stepmother forces her to live a life of servitude. The novel takes place during the Meiji Restoration. Miyo hopes to get blown off her feet when she’s of marriageable age. Her intended spouse is the wicked and heartless Kiyoka Kudo.
His reputation for cruelty has led to rumors that his past relationships lasted little more than three days. But Miyo can’t help but give it a shot. But as their relationship grows, she finds out that Kiyoka is not the terrible bad guy she thought he was. This could be the fairy tale ending she’s been hoping for.
