Production Status!

The official news from the production house, which is Studio Bones, confirms that My Hero Academia Season 6 is currently under works. Production designs and planning are usually scheduled years ahead of time. Thus, it can be assumed that the sixth season was planned way ahead of time. For the time being, it is safe to say that the sixth installment might be in the early stages of production. This is because the licensor has just ended streaming Season 5, and the studio was also busy with the post-release works of the new film.

My Hero Academia follows a stringent schedule of twenty-five episodes per season. Thus, the tedious production work will take around a month to complete. Later, the post-production works liking editing and compositions will commence.

What Will Be The Plot?

The finale episode of My Hero Academia Season 5 ended on a rough note. The entire season essentially followed three arcs beginning with the joint training arc. In the first act, the students of Class 1 A and 1 B joined a training battle tournament. The highlight of this competition turned out to be Deku’s new quirk and the powers of the B students Shinsho. Later, the class delved back into their internships and work studies. Bakugo and Deku were placed with the World’s number one hero. But, Endeavor to learn the essentials of being a pro hero.

The second arc ended up being the most effective one for Endeavor. By the end of it, the pro hero decided to mend the wounds of his personal life. In the final act of the season, the My Villains Academia Arc commenced. This arc focused more on building the antagonistic part of the anime. Tomura Shigaraki and his League of Villains are approached by Re-Destro. Viewers are introduced to the new villain as the leader of the Meta Liberation Army. By the end of this act, Re-Destro lost to Tomura’s invulnerable powers and bent the knee to his new master.

Now, the League and the Meta Liberation Army are a single entity. The news of this alliance has shaken the hero world to its core. Even the students begin to wonder if they are good enough to save society or not.

Now, the sixth season will not only begin a new arc but will also commence an entire Saga of MHA. Final Act Saga is the third part of the ongoing storyline. This contains the Tartarus Escapees arc of the story. After Tomura and Re-Destro established the Paranormal Liberation Army, the hero society is more defensive than ever. The budding heroes will now leave the shell of the UA High and work alongside pro heroes. The arc will focus on Deku’s teaming with three world heroes to hunt down members of the League one by one and end the reign of terror.

Is There Enough Source Material?

The entire My Hero Academia franchise has released 113 episodes so far. This has covered around 306 chapters from the manga. When the anime began airing, there was a considerable gap between the source material and the anime adaptation. But as seasons passed by, that gap bridged closer. So far, the manga has only come out with 327 chapters to date. This implies that there is not enough source material for the sixth season at this point. However, until the time of the release, the Final Act Saga of the manga would have enough chapters to provide for the next season. Thus, it is safe to say that My Hero Academia Season 6 has plenty of source material to adapt from.

My Hero Academia Season 6: Release Date

Unfortunately, the animation studio did not announce a solid release date for the next season just yet. The team has also not mentioned a tentative release schedule for the show. Well, if the animation work completes within a year, it would take the studio six more months to finish the post-production work. Hence, fans can expect to see My Hero Academia Season 6 in Winter 2023 slate at the earliest. Keep an eye on this corner for more updates.
