The first season of this anime series really came as a surprise for the fans. The protagonist confessed his love very early in it. Usually, it happens by the end of the show. So, it is kind of obvious that why everyone is getting so desperate to see more of this show.

However, the production studio Brain Base or the makers are yet to reveal the anime series’s fate. It has been eight years, and they haven’t revealed anything about My Little Monster Season 2. During these eight years, a lot of rumors about the anime’s return surface online but none of them turned out to be true.

Do The Makers Have Enough Source Material?

Brain Base Studio used the manga series as the source material to produce the anime series. The Tonari no Kaibutsu-Kun manga came out on August 23, 2008, and ran for around five years until June 2013. During the course of these five years, Robico published a total of twelve volumes, alongside a special volume. The production studio only used the content from the first four volumes for the inaugural season. Therefore, the makers still have a total of eight volumes to use for the production of My Little Monster Season 2. With the remaining source material, they can even make the third season of the anime series.

Tonari no Kaibutsu-Kun: Plot Details!

The Tonari no Kaibutsi-Kun anime follows the story of Shizuku Mizutani. She is a very ambitious student who only cares about her grades. The second protagonist is a boy named Haru Yoshida, who sits next to Shizuku but rarely comes to school. Both of them are extremely opposite and different. However, they still have one thing in common, both of them don’t know how to make new friends. One day, Haru approaches Shizuku and informs her that he’s into her. It came as a shock to Shizuku because it’s the very first time she met him.

While Haru looks pretty certain about his choice, Shizuku exhibits some resistance and uncertainty towards his confession. Both of them soon began their journey as friends and face each other’s imperfections. Soon they understand that there is a lot more to someone else than the visible flaws. Shizuku began to develop feelings for Haru as well, but due to her lack of knowledge of relationships, she fails to show it.

My Little Monster Season 2: Will The Anime Return?

Tonari no Kaibutsu-Kun is one of the most popular comedy shows. The show’s viewership was great upon its arrival, and it became popular in no time. After a while, it was available to stream on Netflix as well, which helped increase its recognition around other parts of the world. Its popularity is quite visible as it ranked #113 in popularity on MyAnimeList. Aside from the fame, My Little Monster anime’s ratings and critical reception of the first season were also remarkable. In fact, it has a decent score of 7.54 on MAL. The arrival of the anime also boosted the sales of its manga. Plus, the production studio has enough source material as well.

However, the manga series had already ended in 2013. Therefore, My Little Monster Season 2 has nothing left to promote. Well, eight years is quite a long time for a show to lose popularity. Despite that, the anime continues to shine around the globe. Hence, if enough people sign petitions in support of the sequel, Studio Brain’s Base might give it a shot. Overall, there is still hope for a second run, and we will update this section as soon as the green flag arrives.
