Sankarea: Undying Love is a Japanese anime series. It adapts the plot from the manga series of the same name by Mitsuru Hattori. The anime made its debut on April 5, 2012, and ran for twelve episodes. After the completion of the show, the makers released an OVA on June 8 of the same year. Then in November, the fans saw two more special episodes of the anime.
Sankarea Season 2: Renewal Status!
Back in 2012, when the anime made its debut, it engaged the viewers from its inaugural episode. It kept the viewers right on the edge of their seats till the very end. The show ended with a cliffhanger. Therefore everyone thought it would certainly return as it got a great response from the viewers and the critics. But it didn’t happen. The first season of the anime ran only for twelve episodes. Whereas the manga has a total of fourteen volumes in it. Hattori published its last volume back in November 2014. Studio Deen, who produced the debut season, has more than enough source material to produce Sankarea Season 2. But the thing is, they don’t have anything to promote. The makers released the anime series with the main purpose of promoting its source material. But since the manga series ended back in 2014, they don’t have anything to promote now. And that’s the main reason why the fans haven’t seen the second installment of the anime series yet.
The other considerable factor is the decreasing popularity of the series. The anime ended in 2012 and the manga in 2014. So, in the course of these six years, its popularity has decreased gradually. And no studio wants to invest their money in the show, which is not so popular right now. The makers didn’t produce it when its demand was at its peak. So, now the chances for Sankarea Season 2 to happen are very less. Therefore it is better to believe that the anime series will not return.
