Shaman King Anime Coming To Netflix! Release Date & Latest Updates

Shaman King

Netflix

Since 2001, Hiroyuki Takei’s Shaman King anime has been a popular action drama in Japan. The anime adaptation by Xebec ran for several months, from 2001 to 2002. After its end, Bridge Studio is back with a 52 episode reboot version in April 2021. However, the series is exclusive to Japanese audiences only. While the original has a global fan following, the reboot did not reach international audiences.

But now, Netflix has decided to undo this injustice and bring Shaman King to us. Netflix’s Geeked Week event also features the announcement regarding the international release of the anime. So, what is Netflix up to? Here is everything that you must know about the upcoming show.

Netflix Licenses Shaman King

While Shaman King is currently up and running in Japan since April 1, 2021, the western audiences were left out from the premieres. However, Netflix is here to ease their worries now. The company has bought the streaming license for the 2021 reboot version of Shaman King. The announcement was made in the same Geeked Week Livestream event where Netflix revealed its upcoming slate of releases. Hence, skim through the entire article to find out the release date of Shaman King.

What Is The Anime About?

The official synopsis of the 2021 reboot of Shaman King anime looks pretty exciting. It describes the show as it revolves around protagonist Asakura Yoh whose only aim in life is to become Shaman King. However, becoming one is not an easy road. A warrior has to be the strongest amongst his clan. Since childhood, Asakura wanted to give his family an easy life and get a name in his community.

Thus, he decides to participate in the Shaman Tournament, where other competitors are also fighting for the same role. Hiroyuki Takei’s tale is a classic story of a budding warrior who goes on to become the leader of his own clan one day. The anime is a story of endeavor, hard work, and triumph in the face of adversities.

Shaman King: Release Date

Unlike other announcements that were a part of the Geeked Week Livestream, this show actually has a solid release slate. The official Twitter account of Netflix Geeked reveals that the anime is all set to release in the US on August 9, 2021. So, be sure to activate your membership till the month of August because watching later is not an otaku thing to do.
