The entry of big franchises in the anime industry has become a common trope. It has only been a few months since The Mandalorian Season 2 said goodbye to the fans. Even Marvel is aggressively pushing towards the animation wing to attract the anime audience. In the same chain, Disney announced the Star Wars Visions Anime back in July 2021. Visions is a collaborative effort by LucasFilms and Disney, which has been in the works since December 2020. Star Wars Visions Anime: Plot & Season Structure
It was clarified from the very beginning that Star Wars Visions Anime is not going to be a standard anime series. Much like the ongoing Marvel’s What If?, the anime will be an anthology of nine different stories from around the Star Wars universe. Will There Be a More Season?
The Star Wars Visions Anime has not been released just yet. Thus, one cannot judge the renewal of the show on the basis of reception. The same can be said about the critical reception of the show. Hence, these factors still remain under the shadow. For now, all fans know is that Star Wars Visions has an upcoming novel titled “Ronin: A Vision Novel.” Unlike the series, the novel will not be an anthology of several stories. But it would take up the story of the first episode and stretch it to the conclusion.
While, in theory, the speculation may sound to be a stretch, but the novel may pose as source material for the upcoming season. The second season may ditch the anthology format and continue the story of “The Duel” episode by Kamikaze Douga. Furthermore, there are endless possibilities of a sequel with nine studios on board.
Star Wars Visions Anime: Release Date
Disney Plus had announced the release date of the new Star Wars anime way back in July at the time of the initial announcement. The anime anthology is only a few weeks away from its release date. Thus, Star Wars Visions Anime will premiere in two weeks on September 22, 2021. Disney will release all the nine episodes in a single run, or they would not come out weekly like the classic shows.
