According to the official synopsis, the story of Aria of a Starless Night is set in the same world as the anime series. The story is set in a time way before the “Lightning Flash” and “The Black Swordsman” came into existence. Asuna will be the narrator of her own story. The plot will begin the story from the pilot itself. From the transfer of Asuna into the VR game to her bonding with Kirito, all events will feature in the new movie.
Soon after the players are into the game, they would realize that the only way to come out is by clearing hundred progressing levels. Moreover, the rule of the game includes instantaneous death in case of failing in a level. Thus, Kitara and Asuna take charge of all the players and endeavor within Aincrad. Along with the announcement of the release schedule, the makers also dropped a brand-new trailer for the upcoming project. The 100-second long trailer is divided into two parts. The first part teases the arrival of Asuna into the gaming world. She can be seen tensed and horrified at the scale of the VR game. Sword Art Online Progressive Movie: Release Details!
Distributors Funimation and Aniplex recently released a joint announcement in regards to the official western release of the film. Both the content platforms shared the details of the release on their respective social media handles. So, Sword Art Online Progressive Movie is set to release in Japan in the month of October. A solid release date is deemed to be October 30, 2021. Then, the movie will launch in the US and Canada on December 3, 2021. The tickets will be available for pre-order from November 5, 2021.

Later, the film will be released in Australia and New Zealand on December 9, 2021. Funimation specified that their team is also planning to release the film in Ireland, the United Kingdom, and regions of Latin America.
