The Eminence in Shadow Anime is based on the 2018 light novel series. Daisuke Aizawa is the writer of the books with illustrations from Tozai. The books began publishing on Shosetsuka ni Naro in May 2018. However, Enterbrain publishers soon acquired the license to serialize it. It has published four volumes so far. The light novels have inspired a manga series and a spin-off manga. In addition, a new anime television adaptation by Nexus Studio will premiere in 2022.
The Eminence In Shadow: Plot Details
The Eminence in Shadow is an isekai anime that borrows its story from the light novel series of the same name. The story follows Cid Kagenou, a young boy with an overactive imagination. He does not wish for fame or spotlight. But wants to be a mastermind working behind the scenes. After a terrible accident, Cid reincarnates as the son of a nobleman in a world with magic.
In his new life, Cid recruits members to join his imaginary organization, Shadow Garden. He forms the organization to fight the dangerous Cult of Diabolos and makes up a backstory of how he is the leader of the ancient organization, here to save the world. And stop the cult from resurrecting Diabolos. However, he does not realize that the imaginary cult is actually real. And his Shadow Garden is the only thing stopping them.
Cast & Staff Updates
The anime adaptation was first announced in February 2021 through the fourth issue of the light novels. Kazuya Nakanishi will direct the fantasy anime at Nexus Studio. And Kanichi Katou of the Black Clover fame will oversee the scripts. Moreover, the official website of the anime has finally revealed the main cast for the upcoming show.
The new cast members include Seiichirō Yamashita known for his roles in 86 as Raiden Shuga. He will play the role of Cid Kagenou, the secret leader of Shadow Garden. Joining him is singer and voice actress Yoko Hikasa. She will play Iris Midgar, the firstborn princess of Midgar. And lastly, Kana Hanazawa will play the role of Alexia Midgar. The younger sister of Iris and the second princess of Midgar.
The Eminence In Shadow Anime Release Window
As of now, there has been no announcement regarding a confirmed release date for the anime. However, the official website of the anime confirmed in October 2021 that the anime will premiere in 2022.
