However, Vash gets attacked by an assassin during their travel. Wolfwood recognizes the assassin as Livio. In the past, Wolfwood had met Livio at the Hopeland orphanage. However, Wolfwood gets taken away by the Knives Organization called The Eye of Michael. A drug was injected into his body, which quickly turns him into an adult.
In the present, Vash and Wolfwood try to neutralize Livio. Legato tries to make things worse by sending the sand streamer on a collision course toward Hopeland.
