UQ Holder Season 2: Will The Anime Return? All The Latest Details!

UQ Holder Season 2

It has been more than three years since fans last saw UQ Holder, and now they are eagerly waiting for UQ Holder Season 2. Back in 2017, viewers saw the reboot of the anime, which premiered way back in 2006. However, since it wasn’t the exact adaptation, some people consider it as the sequel. Sequel or not, its second run was really good, and the audience really loved it. Fans liked its new art style, and now they are demanding to see more of it.

UQ Holder, aka Mahou Sensei Negima, is a Japanese action fantasy anime series. It is the remake of the fantasy manga series of the same title by Ken Akamatsu. JC Staff produced its anime adaptation that premiered on October 3, 2017. After running for twelve episodes, it ended on December 19, 2017. The makers released three OVA episodes as well, which are also canon.

UQ Holder Season 2: Renewal Status!

The first season of the anime series received a mixed response due to its rushed pacing. The manga readers already knew how many chapters the makers have skipped while adapting it for its debut installment. Not only this, the anime has some original story as well. As a result, fans who are waiting for its accurate adaptation weren’t pleased after watching it. Hence, the negative response might be the reason the makers are yet to renew the series.

The production company is also pretty tight-lipped about the anime’s future. The audience is eager to know whether there will be Mahou Sensei Negima Season 2 or not, but they are not getting any updates. Fortunately, the officials have not canceled its sequel yet. Therefore some fans are still hopeful that they’ll see more of their favorite series.

Is There Enough Source Material?

The author of this manga series began its serialization in 2013. Since then, he has published a total of 24 volumes which have more than 180 chapters. The first season of the anime series adapted 131 chapters and ended on the 13th volume of the manga series. So, now the makers have a total of nine volumes that have content from 50 chapters. It should be enough for a 12-episode season. But if we look at the pacing of the debut season, JC Staff won’t be able to make UQ Holder Season 2 with the remaining source material.

UQ Holder Season 2: Will The Anime Return?

The first season of the anime series holds a good score of 6.99 on MAL. However, its reviews were average because of the poor adaptation. The final episode of the debut season did not follow its story from the manga. Its ending was original that didn’t leave much of a space for its sequel. The finale was pointing towards the end of the anime series. Plus, the production company does not have enough source material as well. Therefore, it is improbable that its fans will ever see UQ Holder Season 2.
