The forthcoming episode of Blue Period is titled “Mental Breakdowns Are No Joke.” For the past two episodes, the story has been foreshadowing Yatora’s sliding mental health. Due to the constant criticism for his work, Yatora is finding it hard to find a silver lining. The biggest source of his demotivation is Mrs. Ooba, who is consistently pushing him to do better. Also, the exams are underway. Thus, all these pressures are likely to push Yatora into a state of Mental Breakdown.

But before this, he will meet Yotasuke Takahashi at his residence. The boy had called up Yatora to ask him if he was free to meet. Yatora had said yes, and now they are set to meet. Yotasuke is a shy boy who studies in the same cram school as the protagonist. This boy has also had a history of fickle mental health. Thus, the episode might also delve into his past stories. In the fifth episode of Blue Period, it was announced in the class that the semester exams are nearing. The students were instructed to speed up their preparations. As Yatora, Hashida, and Kuwana entered the class, he was shocked to see Mrs. Ooba as their instructor. The class was told to draw on a given topic. When Yatora completed his work, he showed it to the teacher. However, Mrs. Ooba commented that he needed to adapt to a topic with more flexibility.

On the way to his art club, he met Mrs. Saeki. The teacher appreciated his work on the F-100 artwork. Even then, he felt disconnected from his work. Later, when he met Mori, he realized that he had been focusing too much on the craft of the tools. Thus, he went back to Mrs. Saeki and expressed his wish to work on F-100 again. However, he was demotivated once again when Mrs. Ooba criticized his monotonous work. The episode ended with Yatora getting a call from Yotasuke.
