Ever since the Chainsaw Man Anime was announced, fans have been eagerly waiting for more developments to see their favorite characters come to life onscreen. Tatsuki Fujimoto wrote and illustrated Chainsaw Man in December 2018. The first part ran in Shueisha’s Weekly Shounen Jump till December 2020. As per the updates, the second part will continue on Shueisha’s Shounen Jump+ from 2022. As of December 2021, the manga has circulated 19 million copies. In addition to this, Sakaku Hishikawa, with Tatsuki Fujimoto as an illustrator, has authored the novel Chainsaw Man: Buddy Stories in November 2021. Moreover, it was announced earlier in 2021 that Studio MAPPA will be adapting the anime.
Chainsaw Man Anime: New Promotional Video Out!
Shueisha’s Jump Festa 2022 saw some exciting news about the Chainsaw Man Anime. First, they released a promotional video for the upcoming Part 2 of the manga. However, the last 12 to 15 seconds of the video shows the viewers an animated shot of Makima. The part begins with a close-up of her face, and it ends with a full-body shot. Moreover, the Chainsaw Man is in the projection behind her.
Ryou Nakayama is the director of the anime. And Makoto Nakazono will be joining him as the chief episode director. Hiroshi Seko will be handling the scripts with Kazutaka Sugiyama designing the characters. Kiyotaka Oshiyama is going to design the devils. Plot Details!
The story is set in an alternate timeline where the Soviet Union still exists. It is a world where Devils are born out of humanity’s fears. These creatures are almost always powerful and harmful to humans. Sometimes, a devil will take over the body of a dead human and gain access to their memories; then they come Fiends. Moreover, there is a way to form contracts and bind them. And in the context of Japan, there exists a Public Safety Division that handles crises involving Devils.
The story begins with Denji and his canine-like Chainsaw Devil, Pochita. Denji is tied up with the Yakuza due to his dead father’s debt. However, the Yakuza kills him to make a contract with the Zombie Devil. In the meantime, Pochita revives Denji and forges a contract with him to become a Hybrid with the condition that Denji has a normal life. The chaos there brings the Public Safety division, and Denji meets Makima. Thus, the story follows him as he adventures with his new crew as a Public Safety Devil Hunter.
