In October 2020, MAPPA Studios brought the story to life as an anime. With only twenty-four episodes in total, the series has managed to garner a fanbase like none other.

What sparked the debate around the second season was the fact that the cast list had certain names who did not even make a debut in the movie. And so, it was an obvious conclusion that these characters are likely to show up in the second season.
Usually, the cast is only officially made part of any project only when the production work has begun. Thus, it can be believed that Season 2 is already under production, and the makers are keeping away the news from the fans. What Will Happen Next?
The first season of Jujutsu Kaisen introduced fans to the world of ninjutsu and cursed techniques. The protagonist, Yuuji Itadori, is a gifted boy who comes across a strangely cursed object. In order to contain the destruction induced by the cursed finger, he impulsively swallowed the finger. What follows is Yuuji’s insane journey into the world of curses, magic, and action. Satoru Gojo, an esteemed teacher who knew exactly what to do with Yuuji. It was decided that they would use Yuuji as a vessel to contain all of Sakuna’s fingers.
As the story continues, Yuuji is also exposed to the world of ninjutsu and other sorcerers. Towards the end of the season, this quirky story continued, and Yuuji met with new students in his class. Now, as per the original story from the source material, Jujutsu Kaisen Season 2 will draw a plot from the Shibuya Incident Arc.
This includes Yuuji and the team going to Shibuya, only getting under the trap of Sakuna. Under the influence of Sakuna, Yuuji ends up killing thousands in the city. This tagged him as a mass murderer and a usurper. The sequel will also deal with sideways storylines, including Megumi, Panda, and Gojo.
Is There Enough Source Material?
Gege Akutami’s Jujutsu Kaisen manga is an ongoing text. At the time of writing, the manga has surpassed around 170 chapters in total. The manga would have reached a higher number. However, due to the long break in the early months of 2021, the manga lagged behind its original schedule. The month-long break was announced due to the degrading health conditions of the author. So, the first season of JJK ended up using only the first 64 chapters of the manga.
This leaves more than a hundred chapters to be used for the second season. In fact, if the manga covers up source material until the release, it is likely that material for a third season might also be available by that time. However, much of this also depends on author Gege Akutami’s health. Ever since the first hiatus, the author has continued to take regular breaks in light of degrading health conditions.
Jujutsu Kaisen Season 2: Release Date
Assuming that Jujutsu Kaisen Season 2 is already under production, it is likely that an announcement will come out right after the movie is off the big screens.
