Taiju used to beat Hakkai and his sister Yuzuha, but Hakkai would take the beatings to protect her. However, Taiju broke his promise, and Hakkai grew to hate him. He found comfort in Mitsuya and saw him as an ideal elder brother. In the present, Mitsuya tried to help Yuzuha escape the illegal jobs she was doing for the Black Dragons.
He made a deal with Taiju, where Hakkai would join the gang in exchange. But Yuzuha warned Mitsuya that he just made Hakkai’s life harder.
