Overlord is a Japanese dark fantasy isekai anime TV series. It is a remake of Kugane Maruyama’s light novel series of the same title. Studio Madhouse animated the first three seasons of this anime and took the command to animate its fourth one. The series made its debut on July 7, 2015. Its second and third seasons premiered in 2018 within a gap of six months. All three installments ran for thirteen episodes each. Now, the fourth one is expected to have the same count of episodes as well.

The return of this isekai anime series was kind of inevitable as it is ranked at #74 in popularity on MyAnimeList. Its fans have only been waiting for the formal announcement that finally took place on May 8, 2021. It happened during a Live Stream event. The news became viral on the web in no time, and its fans instantly began to celebrate the return of their favorite show.
The great thing is that the three hiatus will soon come to an end as Madhouse has already begun the production of Overlord Season 4. As of now, they must have been completed more than half of its production. Therefore, now it is likely that the fourth season will begin by adapting the tenth volume of the LN series. This one featured Ainz Ooal Gown and his newly built the Sorcerer Kingdom facing resistance from other in-game countries. It will also feature Albedo confessing her feelings for her beloved master. In Overlord Season 4, the fans will also see Ainze making an alliance with the Dwarf Kingdom in order to increase their strength.

The officials are yet to confirm the release date of the upcoming installment of this anime series. But the chances are great that Overlord Season 4 will hit the screens in the first half of 2022. As of now, April 2022 seems to be the best release window for this show.
