In an interview with Anime Trending, director Junichi Wada commented on the adaptation style of the series. The artist confirmed that the reason why the series was loosely adapted from the manga was that they wanted to create an original story. Thus, the story was twisted and turned in many ways. Most of the concepts and the characters have come from the text. But the plot veers from the original story.
Thus, it is tough to say if the second season is bound to follow the novel or the manga. Instead, the story will pick up from the cliffhanger of the second season. The idea of the Rainbow children being a part of the labyrinth will be dissected in the storyline. On top of this, Memenpu being one herself raises many questions for her future in the human world.
Sakugan Season 2: Release Date
For the time being, there is no confirmation of the release date as of yet. However, judging by the reception of the first season, the second one might get a renewal soon enough. Also, all hints from the makers’ side suggest that they have already planned a sequel beforehand. Thus, if production is bound to begin by the end of this year, then Season 2 will be completed in a span of one year. Thus, Sakugan Season 2 might come out by the end of 2023.
