Recently, Kadokawa Daiei Studio came up with an anime announcement that can potentially be Konosuba Season 3. The statement on the official website of the distributing company suggests that Konosuba animated world is going to see a new edition very soon. This will be the anime adaptation of the God’s Blessing on This Wonderful World light novel by Natsume Akatsuki. The novel initially came out in 2017 with seven volumes.
The year 2019 also saw a feature film based on this novel series. Moreover, the original Konosuba franchise has had two successful seasons thus far. Konosuba Season 3: Plot Details
According to the source material, God’s Blessing on This Wonderful World follows an ordinary high school student Kazuma who finds herself in the afterlife after getting hit by a truck. Much like every Isekai anime, the God Aqua decides to give Kazuma a second chance by transporting him to a fantasy world. But in Konosuba Season 3, Aqua is also liable to go with her in the new world and fight potential villains. As they learn the ways of the new world, they also acquire powers to fight demons and monsters.
With the help of sorceress Megumin and a swordsman named Darkness, they form a mismatched team to survive in this whole new arena. Now, God’s Blessing on This Wonderful World is set in the same world. But it is unclear as to which arc the makers will use out of the seven volumes to culminate in the anime. For now, only the announcement for the new anime has come by from Kadokawa. Since it is unclear what format the new anime will follow, we cannot say for sure how long it will take for the makers to release the new project. If the new venture is a film, then fans can expect a relatively nearby release date. If not, mid-2022 seems like an appropriate release schedule for Konosuba Season 3. Since the last anime from God’s Blessing on This Wonderful World was also a film, there are high chances that this one will be a sequel movie.
