Soul Eater fans have been high on energy last week because there might be a Soul Eater Comeback. When the Fire Force Manga series ended, the author riled up the entire fandom by directly connecting to the Soul Eater franchise. Although Soul Eater ended in 2013, fans have yet to get over it. Atsushi Okubo created the Soul Eater manga series in 2004. Square Enix published the series in 2013 with 25 volumes. Studio Bones produced a 51 episode anime series based on it in 2009. David Production produced a television anime series that ran for two seasons and 48 episodes in 2019 and 2020. Fire Force also became hugely popular. Moreover, the manga series for Fire Force can come to an end this February 2022.
Soul Eater Teased In Fire Force Manga
In the ending of the Fire Force manga series, Atsushi Okubo established a connection between Fire Force and his other work. After Shinra and his allies return from their missions, some panels show cameos of characters from Soul Eater; only they are younger. But fans were thrilled to see them. The author has also used the words, “Soul World” to confirm the connection. This makes Fire Force somewhat of a prequel to Soul Eater.
The Soul Eater fans took to the internet to express their excitement. This also has the Fire Force fans jumping to read Soul Eater. Since the anime adaptation of Soul Eater never finished the whole story, fans are hoping that this new interest will lead to a reboot of the series. Moreover, they are wondering if Soul World is a sequel to Fire Force but before Soul Eater.
Is Soul Eater Returning?
After the end of the Fire Force, the magazine’s editorial department revealed an announcement asking the fans to look forward to Atsushi Okubo’s next work. However, the author had announced in 2020 that Fire Force would be his last manga series. So while it may be that the issue made a standard announcement they do with every artist, fans believe otherwise.
Some fans believe that the author may actually produce new work, possibly linking the events of Soul Eater and Fire Force. However, the issue has also asked the fans to look forward to an important announcement soon. But there is no hint for fans even to guess what it might be. The Soul Eater manga ended in 2013, and the author was forced to rush through his ending.
The anime adaptation for Soul Eater was released before the manga series had officially ended that added to the author’s pressure. Since Fire Force ended with the words, “Next is Soul World,” fans believe that there might be another Okubo manga series set in the Soul Eater world except it will have the title, “Soul World.” However, some fans feel that the words are just the author clarifying that Fire Force happens before Soul Eater and means nothing more.
Soul Eater Comeback: Release Details
The chances of a Soul Eater Comeback are very less. There is huge support for the series’ reboot and possible chances of exploring both the series together, in the manga format. However, it will be a miracle if the author decides to actually write another manga series. His reference to Soul World, as mentioned above is most probably a confirmation about the order of Fire Force and Soul Eater. He even announced that Fire Force will be his last manga series.
