Episode 6 of Trigun Stampede was titled “Once Upon a Time in Hopeland.” The episode sees Meryl and Robert dropping off Vash and Wolfwood at a port to get on a sand streamer heading to JuLai. However, Vash gets attacked by an assassin during their travel. Wolfwood recognizes the assassin as Livio. In the past, Wolfwood had met Livio at the Hopeland orphanage. However, Wolfwood gets taken away by the Knives Organization called The Eye of Michael. A drug was injected into his body, which quickly turns him into an adult.
In the present, Vash and Wolfwood try to neutralize Livio. Legato tries to make things worse by sending the sand streamer on a collision course toward Hopeland.
