Japan and other Western territories have already watched Secrets of Jungle. So far, the reviews of the film’s story have been outstanding. According to the official synopsis, the premise revolves around Ash and Pikachu’s journey into the Okoya Forest. Okoya is a secluded forest in Japan where special and endangered species of Pokemons are found. Civilians and hunters are not allowed to enter the jungle area. But in the forest lives a young boy named Koko. Hence, like the classic tale of The Jungle Book, Koko was also raised by the Pokemons of the Okoya Jungle.
Moreover, the boy believes that he is, in fact, one of them. He also deems that the Mythical Pokemon Zarude is his father. The story takes a sharp turn when Koko happens to meet another fellow human, Ash. The realization that humans and pokemon are different races hits him harder than a bullet. The story focuses on the themes of acceptance of one’s identity. The bond between humans and pokemon is also beautifully fleshed out in the film.
How Has The Film Performed So Far?
After only having been released in one country, the films business is still considerably large. Both in terms of critical reception and the audience’s feedback, Pokemon The Movie aced the charts. According to the Toho Report for “First Half of 2021 Released Films,” Secrets of the Jungle earned a total of US $18.41 million on the closing day. This essentially means that the movie crossed the 1 billion yen mark in Japan alone. The amount signed with Netflix is not public just yet. However, it is safe to assume that the platform will also give huge numbers to OLM and TOHO.
Pokemon The Movie: Release Date
After conquering the Japanese theatres in December 2020, the new Pokemon movie is all set to enter the Indian markets. According to the official announcement, Pokemon The Movie will release on October 8, 2021, on Netflix India. The film will be available both in English and Hindi dubs.
