13 Anime That Deserve A Reboot

It’s immensely disheartening when a favorite anime doesn’t get a satisfactory end. Or when the anime is not as good as the manga. If a story doesn’t do justice to a given material, fans are bound to ask for a better one. Hence, asking for reboots is right because all stories deserve to be told with passion. Today, we will look at all the anime that couldn’t do well on the first try. Thus, here is a list of the 13 Anime That Deserve A Reboot.

Rosario + Vampire

The Rosario + Vampire anime series did start with flying colors in 2008. For the first season, the anime strictly adapts the source material. However, as the second season progresses, the entire genre of R+V seems to turn from romance to action. It’s nothing short of cheating on an audience who signed up for a romantic comedy. After the second installment, the show lost its audience and ultimately shut down. Therefore, many fans still wish for a reboot that can stick to Akihisa Ikeda’s manga.

Anime That Deserve A Reboot

Bleach

The popular 2014 anime series, Bleach, is not just any show. It has a legacy of eight years of run time. Thus, when an audience invests half their childhood on a show, they indeed expect a conclusion. However, Studio Pierrot never really made it to the end of the show and decided to end it with the sixteenth season. Since 2012, people are waiting for the conclusion of the anime. Even though they can just find out the end through the manga, but the excitement of an anime is something else.

Anime That Deserve A Reboot

Berserk

It’s no secret that the second anime adaptation of Berserk does not do justice to the original manga. The grandeur of the source material is lost from the anime that Liden Films gave us. Thus, since 2017, fans are asking for a reboot that tells the tale of Kentaro Miura with sincerity. Even the film trilogy was a lazy adaptation of the extended tale. Hence, Berserk is the top name in our list of Anime That Deserve a Reboot!

Anime That Deserve A Reboot

Classroom of The Elite

Classroom of the Elite was originally a light novel series by Shōgo Kinugasa that came out in 2015. The source material has more than 18 volumes of the collection. However, the anime adaptation barely consumed any of it and has only 12 episodes. This reason is enough why people are disappointed with Lerche Studio. The vivid details of the psychological thriller are just missing from the show. Let’s see if the fans can put enough pressure on the makers to come back with a reboot.

Anime That Deserve A Reboot

Soul Eater

Studio Bones’ take on Soul Eater seemed like a sincere attempt at Atsushi Ōkubo’s manga. However, the production company got stuck in the same trap as most of them, which is the curse of a rushed ending. The series began with a fairly decent setup that introduced characters and their world beautifully. But then, towards the end of the show, the conclusion felt rushed and out of place. Even though it was in sync with the source material, there wasn’t enough foreshadowing to lead to a cathartic end.

Soul Eater

Fruits Basket

Unlike the brief anime adaptations on this list, Fruits Basket does have a long run-time. It had a considerable number of episodes to cover the source material. However, as the show progresses, the quality of writing in each episode drops significantly. The stretch is so far that the episode feels out of place. We hope that Fruits Basket can come up with a new season to set things right again.

Fruits Basket

Monster Rancher

If you remember anime Monster Rancher, then you know why this one is on the list. The anime is as old as the century because it came out in 1999. Moreover, the concept of a monster friend is still pretty fresh with the young audience. If given a good animation and visual appeal, the show will surely do wonders. Thus, Monster Rancher gets a top spot on our list of the 13 Anime That Deserve A Reboot.

13 Anime That Deserve A Reboot

Yu Yu Hakusho

Much like the other names in our list, Yu Yu Hakusho also suffers from the trope of a messy ending. Both the manga and the anime made it to the conclusion, but none seems satisfactory. Another argument put forth by fans is that YYH is almost three decades old, and the animation is not relevant enough. Thus, a reboot that can give blooming animation touches. It might also fix the ending will definitely do strong business for any studio that decides to pick the project.

Yu Yu Hakusho

Elfen Lied

The anime Elfen Lied does have a strong fanbase. However, if you read the original manga by Lynn Okamoto, you’ll know that story has way more to offer than just bloodshed. Yes, the visuals and screenplay of the anime version are far better. But the writing is nothing in comparison to the source material. The audience deserves a better story than we already have.

Elfen Lied

Baccano!

The Baccano anime series is a direct adaptation of the light novel series by Ryōgo Narita. The novels are 22 volumes, and the anime is only 16 episodes. So, you can imagine the horror at which content must have been cut out. If Studio Brain’s Base picks the project back up and decides to go for multiple seasons, the anime will surely make a mark for ages to come. Even the die-heart fans of the novel are expecting a reboot from the makers.

Anime That Deserve A Reboot

Claymore

When Madhouse Studios first came in with Claymore, the anime became a massive hit. From animation to visuals, everything was on point. However, as the constraints of anime kick in, many arcs and plotlines had to be trimmed down. What came out as a product was a half-baked story. Claymore, as a story, has immense potential, and so does Madhouse. If only a more sincere adaptation is made, there will be nothing better for fans.

Anime That Deserve A Reboot

Ranma 1/2

The case with Ranma 1/2 is similar to that of Yu Yu Hakusho. The anime came out in 1989, which makes the animation far old. The new audiences will definitely not like to watch the blurry imagery and slow animation. Thus, the potential in Rumiko Takahashi’s story deserves to get a reboot for the newer generations. Hence, Ranma 1/2 gets the twelfth spot on this list of the 13 Anime That Deserve A Reboot.

Anime That Deserve A Reboot

Tokyo Ghoul

If you search for the most hated anime adaptation lists, you’ll find that Tokyo Ghoul is a common name amongst all of them. Somehow, the anime couldn’t bring out the essence of the original. Sui Ishida put his heart and soul in the original for more than seven years. To let that hard work go away just for fan service is nothing short of injustice.

Tokyo Ghoul

So, with Tokyo Ghoul, we can conclude our list of the 13 Anime That Deserve A Reboot. Did we miss out on any other show? Do share your thoughts with us in the comment box below. For more updates on anime and manga, keep coming back to The Anime Daily.
