The first season of the anime ran for 12 episodes. The last episode came out on December 23, 2021. A second season of the anime is currently under production.
Muv Luv Alternative New Trailer Announces Season 2
The official Twitter page of the Muv Luv Alternative anime announced a second season for the show. The announcement was made on December 23, 2021. Additionally, the makers released a new trailer at the end of episode 12. The new trailer featured the character art of the main characters. But, more importantly, it has revealed a launch window for season 2 of Muv Luv Alternative.
The trailer features narration by voice actress Tomori Kusunoki. She plays the role of Sumika in the show. Yukio Nishimoto directed the first season of the anime. Yumeta Company and Graphinica have collaborated on animating it. And Flagship Line produced the show. The show ran for twelve episodes from October 2021. What Will Happen In Season 2?
The mecha anime centers around Takeru, the protagonist. The story starts with Takeru having a vision where he witnesses the end of humanity. He sees the future of a battered and dying Earth. In addition, he witnesses Project Alternative V. Wherein, a select number of humans are taken to space to preserve humanity. Thus, he joins a military base to protect the earth and prevent his visions from happening. He must be against the alien invaders in giant mecha machines.
Season 2 of the show will return to the political conflict between Japan and the U.S. As, the coup from season one caused multiple casualties on both sides. Therefore, season two will decide the fate of the war. The following season will also reveal the secret plans of Yuuko and Sakon. And if they will finally go with Alternative V. The main plot of the story will follow the story from the original game. So, a second season of the show will premiere in 2022.

A trailer streamed at the end of episode 12 of Muv Luv Alternative season 1. The trailer has announced that a second season will premiere in October 2022.
