Tokyo Revengers Season 2: Renewed Or Not?
The second season of Tokyo Revengers was renewed three months after the debut season ended. In December 2021, the makers confirmed that the “Christmas Showdown Arc” of the manga would be getting an anime adaptation. Thus, the second season of Tokyo Revengers has been renewed. However, there has not been much information after that. In-between, there were announcements of the other projects like the live-action and spin-off mangas. Has The Production Started?
As mentioned above, studio Liden Films has been silent about the production and return of the anime ever since the announcement. And it is also not like this studio is the busiest production company in the industry. Unlike MAPPA, LF only has a few projects lined up for 2022. This includes Call of the Night, Eternal Boys, My Master Has No Tail, and Reiwa No Di Gi Charat Anime.
But as mentioned earlier, the mangs are currently playing the final arc of the story. In a matter of a month or two, the story’s final arc will reach a conclusion. Thus, the entire fanbase is busy heeding that. Now, if the makers announce Tokyo Revengers Season 2, then some fans will tend to drop reading the finale and resort to watching the anime adaptation. This might affect the sales of manga in the climactic period. At this point, this is the only fair explanation of why the sequel is not getting a release date.
Tokyo Revengers Season 2: Manga Compared To Anime
Tokyo Revengers is an original action-thriller manga created by Ken Wakui. The text was first published in the year 2017. The anime adaptation was announced in the year 2020. As of March 2022, the manga is currently running its 24th volume of 250 chapters. The first season, of 24 episodes, covered only the first 72 chapters of the manga. This leaves more than two-thirds of the content for the second season. Starting from the 73rd chapter, the story is expected to cover another 72 chapters.
This will play out the Black Dragons arc and the Christmas Showdown arc. After this, only two arcs will be left for adoption. These are Tenjiku and the Tokyo Revengers Final Arc. In addition, the story will see a conclusion in a matter of months. Thus, there will be complete material left up for the third season as well.
What Will Happen In Season 2?
The second season of Tokyo Revengers will pick up the story from the Christmas Showdown arc. In this, Takemichi comes back to the present only to learn that the Tokyo Manji gang is now one of the biggest organizations of his time. This organization now owns the Black Dragons and other petite organizations. Now, the man that Takemichi needs to take care of is Taiju. He learns that he has no intentions of keeping his promise to the team.
Thus, he decides to ask for help from the Tokyo Manji Gang. But there is no response, and he is left stranded once again. To some relief, Koko and Inupi, two of the members of Black Dragons, confirm that Hakkai wanted to murder Taiju. There is another twist in the story, and Takemichi is betrayed by Kisaki and Hanma. This led to the prevention of Taiju’s inevitable death. It is possible that Season 2 will swiftly slide into the next arc with Naoto’s death. This point in the story will be the perfect cliffhanger for the third season.
Tokyo Revengers Season 2: Release Date
At the time of writing, there is no announced release date for the second season of Tokyo Revengers. But considering the fact that the first season was released in April 2021, the announcement could have come out this spring.
