BN Studio picked up its story and animated the first season of the series. Moreover, the premiere of this anime aired on October 5, 2019. The fans of this unique card game had a very high expectation from the anime. However, the series failed to fulfill it. Let’s start with its storyline. Since the production company created it based on a card game, it was kind of obvious that the adaptation wouldn’t be a masterpiece. But fans expected it to be a bit more unique and engaging, at the least. In the end, it was just another average storyline and a lot of plotholes.
Its characters were also average, and most of them were actually annoying. Aikatsu on Parade did have some good visuals, and its art style was also good. Besides, BN Pictures did a fine job in animating this show. Overall, the series is not horrible, but it is not very great as well.

Aikatsu on Parade Season 2: Renewal Status
The inaugural installment of the anime received a mixed response from the viewers as well as the critics. The latter praised several elements of this show but criticized it for its flaws too. At the time of writing, the anime has a score of 6.87 on MyAnimeList. However, unlike the ratings, the popularity of this series is quite low. It doesn’t even have a total of 5,000 members in its MAL group. It seems like the majority of the fan-following of this show is of the people who followed the card game.
Also, the debut season of the anime ended on a conclusive note and left no space for Aikatsu on Parade Season 2. Therefore, now it is likely that the makers won’t renew the series for its sequel. Its low popularity and end of the storyline might become the main reason behind its cancellation.
