The first season of Made in Abyss initially premiered in July 2017 on prime Japanese Networks. However, a recent announcement by Adult Swim confirmed that Toonami would air the show for a second time. The announcement was made on the official Facebook page of the Toonami programming block.
The announcement included a photo of the full lineup of the programming block. Some other shows in the lineup include Black Lotus, Naruto Shippuden, Cowboy Bebop, and Assassination Classroom. Additionally, the Facebook page released a short thirty-second clip to promote the Made In Abyss anime.
What Is The Anime About?
Made in Abyss is an adventure anime that follows the story of Riko, a young orphaned girl. She lives in the town Orth, which surrounds the mysterious Abyss. The Abyss is a mist-filled deep chasm that holds remnants of a late civilization. Curious people dive into the chasm to discover the secrets that lie there. Riko’s mother, Lyza, is one of those divers who enter the Abyss but never returns.
Riko wants to follow in her mother’s footsteps and search the chasm herself. She meets a humanoid robot during one of her ventures and names him Reg. Reg accompanies her back to the village and hides there. After a while, Riko finds a note and some observations of the Abyss from her mother. In the note, Lyza tells her daughter that she is waiting at the bottom of the Abyss. So, Riko and Reg return to the Abyss in search of answers.
Made In Abyss Anime Premiere Date
Toonami announced that it would begin airing Made in Abyss from this Saturday, January 15, 2022. The show will air from 1:30 am EST.
